Delivering for Lismore Roads and bridges rebuild update As Lismore recovers from the 2022 natural disaster, our Road Teams are working hard to ensure our communities remain connected and safe on our roads, and ensure we have a resilient and sustainable road network into the future. Current Works Scan for project updates Crofton Road Road pavement restoration works on Crofton Road were completed on 6 June. The road suffered significant damage during the February 2022 natural disaster. The works began in November 2023 and involved resealing 3km of the road, installing guideposts and replacing two culverts. During these works, the road remained open with stop-go traffic conditions. Thank you to the community for your understanding and patience during the works. Newton Drive Works have begun on a second minor upslope landslip further up Newton Drive Crews have taken advantage of favourable weather conditions in June proceeding to the final clean up and the rehabilitation phase. The remaining work requires sealing the road at the landslip site and the replacement of a single pipe culvert. We'd like to thank the community for their patience during minor disruptions to traffic flow. Terania Creek Road Works on bridge three is now complete. On bridge two, a side track is in place and concrete approaches and steel placement is due for completion by the end of June. Remaining works include the installation of guard rails. On completion of bridge two crews will commence work on bridge three. Blue Knob Work is underway on the first of four landslip sites on Blue Knob Road. Currently contractor CMC are working on the first site closest to Nimbin which includes the construction of two soil nails walls. Once these are underway, they will move to s o set up the second site for excavation. The works is expected to take 10 months to complete the repair of a f all four landslips pending weather conditions. Leycester Road Work is underway to repave the full length of Leycester Road, approximately 3.6kms, from Kyogle Road to Bice Road. The work will involve granular overlay of the existing road surface, resealing and stormwater drainage upgrades, occurring for a or approximately six months, from July to late December 2024, subject to weather conditions. During the works, traffic will be impacted while construction is carried out under Traffic Control stop/go arrangement and a reduced speed limit. At times traffic users may experience long delays to allow construction of the new pavement. Upper Tuntable Falls Road Landslip remediation works are nearing completion on Upper Tuntable Falls Road including minor grading and drainage works. Rogerson Road Favourable weather conditions assisted with progressing with culvert works on Rogerson Road. These works involve replacing old steel drains with new cement pipes. During the month, pipe was lifted into place and the blinding was poured for the headwalls. Stony Chute Road Earthworks are now complete and site rehabilitation is underway. Drainage structures are on track to be completed by the end of the month. On completion of the drainage the final works include resealing the road which will involve stop go traffic control. Gravel Roads update Works continue for grading of over 120km on 53 unsealed gravel roads which have been significantly damaged as a result of declared natural disaster events in December 2023 and April 2024. Roads with the most severe damage have been given the highest priority to ensure that critical routes are restored first. In one of the biggest projects of its kind with Council deploying six separate works crews and efforts have been made to cluster the works geographically to optimise efficiency and resource allocation. Motorists will be notified of road changes via roadside signage.
